This site is aimed at people who want to move to a village or small town in the Cotswolds but need to retain links to London for work or leisure.
By carrying out an initial screening (based on objective facts) the places shown on this site are by definition beautiful and practical but the site allows you to prioritise different factors such as local facilities and travel convenience.
At its initial launch the site covers Cotswold villages and small towns but the scope might be increased over time depending on levels of interest.
What makes a village a Great Village to live in? Though this is subjective, this site is built on the notion that a Great Village (or small town) has:
| Beauty | Is in (or on the edge of) an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (National Landscape) and is or has a conservation area |
| Good walkable facilities | Such as a pub, day-to-day shop, Post Office, doctor, primary school All of the listed villages have a pub but you can specify which of the others are important to you on the shortlisting page |
| Good travel convenience | Mainline station within 20 minutes Train journey time to London less than 1.5 hours Good number of parking spaces at the station |
| Scale | Large enough to be vibrant with activities for family members You can filter by size of population if you wish |
| Peace and quiet | Away from large main roads and not a tourist hotspot* |
